in Life in Santa Clarita

Having lived in Santa Clarita my entire life, sometimes it's easy to take for granted how good we have it here in this great city of Santa Clarita, and it's surrounding areas such as Stevenson and Castaic. The Santa Clarita Valley has so much to offer, to everyone. Whether you like the city life, the suburban life, or the country offerings that the surrounding mountains provide, Santa Clarita is place to be! Here are 10 reasons to move to Santa Clarita, if you're relocating to Los Angeles County, and Southern California.

10 Reasons To Relocate To Santa Clarita, California:

1) Santa Clarita Schools and Learning Institutions – Rank in the top 10% of all schools in California – source

2) Crime – Santa Clarita was recently ranked the safest city in America with a population of at least 150,000, and continues to rank well as the years progress, and population grows – source

3) Reasonable Housing Prices – While moving to Southern California may present a price shock if you're moving from one of many other parts of the country where home values are much more affordable, you will still notice that when weighing out competing Southern California communities such as Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Pasadena, and Burbank, Santa Clarita usually tops them when it comes to affordability.

4) Parks – The Santa Clarita Valley is filled with parks! Parks, parks, and more parks! There are 34 to be exact, between the parks maintained by the City of Santa Clarita, and those maintained by Los Angeles County. When driving through Santa Clarita, stop by one of the many! Santa Clarita Parks. Los Angeles County Parks.

5) Paseo and Trail System – Located throughout Santa Clarita, there are paseo paths and trails that span over 60 miles. In Valencia, one could almost travel from the south of Valencia, to the North of Valencia without ever having crossed one single street. Instead they could use the paseo to ride their bike or walk, and navigate through the many picturesque communities Valencia has to offer, and cross the streets by going over them, via the paseo bridges. Beyond Valencia are the many trails, that run from the west of the Santa Clarita Valley, to the East. This is something anyone with an active lifestyle, thinking of moving to Santa Clarita, should consider.

6) Shopping – It would suck to live in a community, when you're always having to leave it in order to get your proper shopping done. Well have no fear, the Valencia Town Center, and many other outlets throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, are just minutes away, no matter where in the SCV you live. Over the years, many popular boutique and big box retailers have joined the Santa Clarita community, due to the growth of the valley, and it's prosperous local economy.

7) Recreation – From the roller coaster fame of Valencia's own Six Flags Magic Mountain, to Castaic Lake, Lake Piru, and Lake Pyramid, there is always something local to do. Don't forget the golf courses. Santa Clarita has some outstanding golf opportunities, such as the TPC Valencia, the Valencia Country Club, Vista Valencia, or the beautiful Robinson Ranch. Plus, we're just a 30-45 minute drive to the coast, to down town Los Angeles, and so much else that Southern California, and the Los Angeles area has to offer. Close to it all, but just far enough as well. It's just right!

8)  Mountains – We're surrounded by mountains! The beautiful mountains serve as a perfect backdrop to the daily life in the SCV. Usually, during the winter, snow lightly coats many of the surrounding mountains after we get drenched with a cold rain, and they are indeed beautiful when they turn white! Being close to the mountains has it's pros and cons. Cons? Fires from time to time. Pros? Lots! Recreational activities such as hiking (think: Towsley Canyon), dirt biking in Gorman, or visiting a picturesque stream up Bouquet Canyon Rd. Life in Santa Clarita wouldn't be the same, without the beauty that surrounds us.

9) Active Citizens – The word community really brings something to mind when I say the word. It makes me think of those who are active in the place they live, and help keep it together to make it a better place for all. From those who run the city of Santa Clarita, to those who volunteer, Santa Clarita is filled with people who care about the community, and are always working to improve it. In real estate, we always talk about pride of ownership. I guess here, I'd call it pride of citizenship. People who live in Santa Clarita usually are very proud of that. The opportunities are plentiful to participate and volunteer here, to make the community that much better.

10) Restaurants – I can remember only having a few options, as a kid, for places to eat, when growing up in Santa Clarita. Lyons Ave is where everything happened. Not so much anymore! If you're hungry, trust you me, Santa Clarita has something for you. Restaurants keep popping up. And good ones too! Hey, even those gourmet food trucks are starting to frequent our lil' city as well. As the Santa Clarita Valley grows, so do our options for places to feed our belly. My personal favorites are Las Rocas in Castaic, and Lazy Dog Café in Valencia. Find yours

There are really so many more reasons to move to the Santa Clarita Valley. But that's the best I could do with about 30 minutes for the blog post.
