Grading and preparation seems to be underway finally for a vacant lot of land across the street from the Ralphs grocery store in Castaic off of Castaic Road. The commercial center, which will be named “Castaic Corner“, is currently being leased out by NAI. The 23,000 square foot center will have two components as currently planned.
The first of the two components will be a 15,000 square foot two story medical office building, and the second building will consist of single story 8,000 square foot retail building. It is not known if any particular business has yet to sign a lease.

New shopping centers in Castaic are very welcome. Its becoming less of a “truck stop” town – although truckers are still very present, and it has slowly, but surely been turning into an acceptable place to fetch a more upscale meal (with the rise of eateries other than the typical Castaic fast food hut), or do business, for the local residents, and travelers.
It will take a while though for these “newer” shopping centers to really thrive. The newer Walgreens anchored shopping center called Castaic Town Center has been very slow going getting new businesses in, with several vacancies still, and one of the major businesses, a cafe called Lollies, already out of business after just several months of giving it a try. I believe that shopping center has horrible access issues though, especially the entrance and exit directly off of The Old Road, so that may be a main reason for the lack of business there. The business that seems to be doing the best, Las Rocas (best authentic Mexican food!), is barely visible from the road whatsoever, its their great food that will help them stay alive, well that, and the fact that they are about the only good sit-down Mexican food establishement in Castaic!
As new businesses enter the Castaic area, especially some of the household food and retail names, the stock of Castaic will begin to rise, more than it already has.
