Often referred to as the Lagoon, Lower Lake Castaic was very beautiful today, on a breezy, crisp, December day. This recreation area, separate from Upper Lake Castaic, where gasoline powered boats are allowed, is usually calm and peaceful this time of year. It really beefs up with activity come Spring and Summer.

Some of the recreational opportunities Lower Lake Castaic provides are:

  • Fishing
  • Picnicking
  • Camping
  • Non-gasoline powered boating
  • Seasonal swimming

The east side of the Lagoon offers 60 campground sites that accommodate campers, trailers, RV’s, and tents. However no hook-ups are available. In addition, the East side of the Lagoon offers 24 hour shoreline fishing. On the west side of the lagoon, there are a large number of picnic areas, hiking opportunities, biking, and equestrian trails.
