Old Town Newhall to Host Holiday Festivities

Old Town Newhall will be hosting several holiday festivities and events for children and adults to enjoy this year. The festivities will begin November 30, and end December 1, 2007.

In total, three separeate events are planned:

Friday November 30th, 3pm-6pm, the city will host the inaugural “Paint The Town” art project which will skirt along the newly named Main Street (used to be San Fernando Rd), between Lyons Avenue and 6th Street. At this “Paint The Town” event, various Santa Clarita schools, and children will create holiday themed paintings on the outside of the Old Town Newhall businesses.

Saturday December 1st, 9am, the annual Old Town Newhall Children’s Parade will begin. The parade, which children will be seen dressed according to their families holiday tradition. They will also decorate bikes, wagons, skateboards, and scooters. Some will walk with a friend, some with be in big groups such as scout troops, etc. The parade route will start at 9th street and continue down to Main Street, then head over to Newhall Avenue, and finally end at William S Hart park, where Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be. At the park the kids can also enjoy songs, snow, and decorate/sign greeting cards for US Troops over seas. there will also be a trophies for best costumes.

Saturday December 1st, 11am, the Santa Clarita Community Center, located off of Market Street, will host a Mural Dedication. The colorful mural celebrates the various programs held at the Community Center, and was painted by special needs children from across the valley and created by local non-profit organization the Special Children’s Art Foundation.
