Attention Santa Clarita first-time homebuyers! The city of Santa Clarita is introducing their FirstHOME Program, to help interested first-time homebuyers, purchase a home within the city of Santa Clarita. The assistance will come in the form of a low-interest, deferred-payment second mortgage which is to be used as a down payment on a home. Again, that's only homes within city limits.
This program will be popular, and it's going to have limited availability. There will be a lottery to "apply" for the FirstHOME program. People who have lived in or worked in the city of Santa Clarita for at least the last 6 months, will receive priority.
Also some of the basic qualifications for the program will apply toward income limits, as this FirstHOME program will apply to low and moderate income households. At least one occupant of each household must attend one of the mandatory meetings, of which there are 4 scheduled currently:
August 28th 9-11am
August 28th 11am-1pm
September 1st 12-2pm
September 1st 7-9pm
The location of the meetings will be the Century Room at City Hall (23920 Valencia Blvd, first floor).
Some other details to note are that eligible first-time homebuyers in the FirstHOME program must only be buying a Santa Clarita condo or single-family residence. Also, the second mortgage being issued must not be more than 50 percent of the sales price of the home. There will be additional limits on the number of bedrooms, and total loan amount.
