Yes, that’s a Wienerschnitzel, and no, it’s not the exact one they are building at the new shopping center called the Vine at Castaic, which is managed by Regency Centers. My heart almost stopped though, when I saw the famous hot dog chain’s sign go up at the newer shopping center that still has yet to be fully leased. Most of you are saying, “eww Weinerschnitzel.” I know. Especially in health conscience California. I can’t help it though, I have a real soft place in my heart for that chain. Ever since I was little, the only one around town (the SCV), has been in Canyon Country, and it’s always been a family and friend favorite of ours. I make my home in Castaic, so this will be extra convenient, and extra tempting.
While the imagery of the Wienerschnitzel logo stopped my heart, let’s all hope that my heart doesn’t literally stop once I pay a weekly homage to my newest and favorite Castaic business establishment.
Among other tempting eateries going into the Vine at Castaic are:
El Polo Loco (you know all about this one)
Jersey Mike’s Subs (great sub, but pretty expensive)
Starbucks (of course)
Popeye’s Chicken (yet another place I can’t resist)
Pizza Factory (as long as they load on the pizza sauce, I’m a customer. I can’t stand when they call cheese bread a pizza)
Family Bakery (don’t know what they’re about yet)
Telly’s Charburger (heard it’s great – the one in Saugus is always packed)
Castaic has always been lacking in places to eat, until recently it’s always been either Taco Bell, Jack n Box, McDonald’s, or Wendy’s. It’s nice to see we’ll be getting some other choices finally, and the unbeatable quality of a place like Wienerschnitzel!
